Award-winning project in the “Pro Juvenes” competition

The project “Krakow Biomedical Summer School” received an award in the “Pro Juvenes” competition. The statuettes were presented on October 10 during the 13th Gala of Student Community Awards.

Pro Juvenes is more than just awards and statuettes. For 13 editions, it has been a map of the most valuable qualities of our community: responsibility, cooperation, courage, creativity, and empathy. The projects we recognize here reflect the full spectrum of what young academic Poland lives by. Behind every nomination stands an important story—it begins with a hallway conversation, with an important question, with a small idea that turns into a project capable of changing our academic reality,” said Julia Bednarska-Leśniak, Chair of the Parliament of Students of the Republic of Poland, welcoming the gala guests.

“I am glad we can meet among people who, through their actions, prove that the Polish academic community is above all about science, energy, innovation, and real impact on life in our country. You all show how much this environment needs initiatives that integrate and inspire courageous action,” said Dr. Marcin Kulasek, Minister of Science and Higher Education. “Pro Juvenes is the most recognizable student award in Poland. It is a contest whose idea has not lost relevance over the years—on the contrary, it has gained new meaning. Every year, you show the true face of Polish students—people who are responsible, engaged, and ready to act: for their peers and for the entire society. Your ideas, passion, and determination are the key to ensuring that the future of our country remains open, modern, and united.”

This year, awards were presented in 18 categories during the ceremony.

In the category “Student Scientific Project,” the winner was the “Krakow Biomedical Summer School” organized by the Center for Biomedicine and Interdisciplinary Sciences of the Jagiellonian University Medical College, the Student Scientific Society of Targeted Therapy and Supramolecular Systems, and the Committee on Physiological and Pharmacological Sciences of the Polish Academy of Sciences.

The project, carried out within the framework of the Polish Academy of Sciences’ Open Science Program, is a unique combination of science, practice, and networking. Held in May this year, it brought together young researchers from across Poland, offering them laboratory workshops, research sessions, and grant training. Thanks to its interdisciplinary format, it became an inspiring space for growth and collaboration.

The Pro Juvenes” contest has been organized by the Parliament of Students of the Republic of Poland since 2013. Its goal is to promote active students and their initiatives, as well as to recognize the achievements of individuals and organizations that support students and foster the potential of young people. The winners were selected by the student community through an online vote.
